Truckload shipping: one trailer, one load
GET Express books truckload shipping across the U.S.: dry van, reefer and flatbed truckload services for one-off loads and recurring lanes.
How truckload shipping works
Your freight gets the whole trailer. The truck loads at your dock and drives to the delivery address with no terminal stops and no rehandling.
That is why truckload is faster than LTL and gentler on fragile freight, and why it costs less per pallet once a load fills most of a trailer.

- Freight is high-value or fragile
- The delivery date matters
Truckload services we book
| Service | Good for |
|---|---|
| Dry van | Palletized or boxed freight that needs to stay dry and enclosed |
| Reefer | Chilled or frozen freight, with the set point written on the bill of lading |
| Flatbed and step-deck | Machinery, building materials and loads that lift on from the side or the top |
| Team drivers | Long hauls on a deadline, with two drivers taking turns so the truck keeps moving |
Oversize loads, cross-border moves and managed transportation go through the wider GlobalTranz network. Ask, and we tell you straight whether it is a fit.
How truckload is priced
You pay for the truck, not the space. The lane, the miles, the equipment and how much capacity the market has that day set the rate. There is no freight class to argue about.
A one-off load gets a spot rate, shopped across carriers for that day. Steady volume on the same lanes gets carriers and lane pricing you can plan around. Extras such as a second stop or driver help with unloading are priced on the quote.
Truckload or LTL?
If your pallets fill only part of a trailer, a partial truckload or volume LTL can cost less than a full truck. Our pallet shipping page matches the mode to your pallet count, and the guide to LTL vs FTL explains the trade-offs.
What to send for a truckload quote
- Pickup and delivery ZIP codes
- The equipment: dry van, reefer or flatbed
- The total weight and the pallet or piece count
- The pickup date and any delivery appointment
- For reefer, the temperature. For flatbed, anything oversize.
Truckload shipping questions
How fast do I get a truckload quote?
For a one-off load, a firm spot rate within two business hours.
What is the difference between a spot rate and a contract rate?
A spot rate prices one load on one day at the market price. A contract rate is agreed in advance for a lane you ship again and again.
Can you move a partial truckload?
Yes. A partial truckload shares a trailer with one or two other loads and skips the terminals, which suits freight too big for LTL and too small for a full truck.
Does a truckload pickup need a loading dock?
A 53 foot dry van loads at a dock or with a forklift. Without either, ask about a flatbed, which loads from the side, or a smaller truck with a liftgate.
Have a full load?
Send the lane, the equipment, the weight and the pickup date, and we come back with a truckload rate you can book.
